Georgia Young Composers Festival

The Georgia Young Composers Festival (GYCF) is a composition contest open to high school and collegiate music composition students from the state of Georgia. It brings together the brightest new composers to introduce them and their works to today's audiences. Sponsored by the DeKalb Choral Guild, the GYCF provides these aspiring student composers a chance to work with an accomplished chorus, and it gives the public a chance to discover the future of composition produced in Georgia's high schools and colleges. Through this event, the DeKalb Choral Guild hopes to recognize the great talent present in our state, and thereby encourage the continuation and expansion of the choral arts.

Up to three finalists will be selected for each of the three divisions (high school, undergraduate, and graduate). The piece by each finalist will be performed at the GYCF and a winner will be chosen in each division.  The high school winner will receive a $250 cash award, the undergraduate winner a $500 cash award, and the graduate winner a $1,000 award.
